Ila Grace Tomberlin was born January 11, 1928 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Grace A. and Roy Lee. She passed away December 23, 2012 at Sayre, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 12 days.
Ila moved with her family as a child to Strong City, Oklahoma and graduated from Strong City High School where she earned several academic achievement awards and enjoyed playing on the basketball team. She was married to Gerald Tomberlin at Hammon, Oklahoma on August 12, 1948 and they lived in Strong City until moving to Elk City in 1962 when they moved east of Sayre, Oklahoma and operated a dairy for years. Ila and Gerald were married for almost 64 years when he passed away in July of this year. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and son as well as working in her garden and feeing bottle calves.
In additon to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Otis and Bobby Lee.
She is survived by her son, Gale Tonberlin and wife Nelda, Sayre, Oklahoma; 2 grandchildren, Gala Ila Grace Tomberlin, and Gerra Lee TTomberlin, several nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services will be held December 28, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Rose Chapel officiated by Kendell Hamilton. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
