WALKER, Bud

Bud Walker was born March 4, 1933 in Roger Mills County, OK to Daisy and Samuel Walker. He passed away April 9, 2014 at Elk City, OK at the age of 81 years, one month and sixteen days. Bud grew up in Roger Mills County all along the Washita River. At a young age after his father passed away, he became the man of the house and took over the farming responsibilities and worked to provide for his mother and siblings. Bud enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict. After his discharge, he came back to Roger Mills County where he worked for Ted Haight as a mechanic. Bud was married to Elizabeth Louise (Kirk) Walker at Cheyenne, OK on September 14, 1956. After their marriage, they lived at Square Top for about a year before moving to the Dempsey community where they built everything they had by hand. Bud and Louise were loving and caring parents not only to their own children but to anyone in the community who needed it. Bud enjoyed nothing more than taking the children, grandchildren and anyone else out in the summer time picking and eating plums. He also enjoyed lending a hand to anyone in need, drowning out crickets, fishing and playing dominoes. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, numerous brothers and sisters. He is survived by his two children, John Walker and wife, Martha, Cheyenne, OK and Shirley Walker, Weatherford, OK; six grandchildren, Kayla, Kelci, Kandice, Kourtney, Samuel and Jonathan and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held Saturday, April 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Dempsey Cemetery officiated by J.A. Farber.
