for Hellen Marie (Martin) Weaver
Oklahoma, was born on March 19, 1933 on a farm twelve miles East of Leedey,
Oklahoma. She is the daughter of Ernest and Beulah (Rhinard) Martin. She went
to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 in Oklahoma City,
Oklahoma.
Hellen graduated from Leedey High School, class of 1951. On August 14, 1951,
she married her best friend and the love of her life, Derrel Weaver in Cordell,
Oklahoma. Derrel preceded her in death in 1978.
Derrel and Hellen took up residence in Hammon, Oklahoma and moved to Arvin,
California for a time before they moved to Elk City, Oklahoma in 1960. They
co-owned and operated Derrel’s Garage until 1978 when Derrel passed away. Hellen
then held several different jobs at KFC, Arrowhead Laundry and Atwoods before
going to work for the City of Elk City as a cashier in the water department in
1990 for over twenty years.
Hellen enjoyed raising chickens and collecting the eggs they laid, baking cakes
and just visiting with people, but what she loved most was spending time with
her family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017 at
Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma. Rev. Danny Ringer will
officiate, Gantt Carter will assist. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery,
Elk City, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger
Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Hellen is survived by one son, Keith Weaver and his wife, Sondra of Elk City,
Oklahoma; three daughters, Linda Campbell and her husband, Lonnie of Hammon,
Oklahoma, Sharon Harrell and her husband, David of Elk City, Oklahoma, Juanita
Maxwell and her husband, Warren of Stanton, Texas; ten grandchildren;
twenty-six great-grandchildren; one brother, Eugene Martin and his wife, Freda
of Searcy, Arkansas; one sister, Alice Ward of Ringling, Oklahoma; one
sister-in-law, Pauline Martin of Del City, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews,
cousins and other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Derrel Weaver; parents, Ernest and
Beulah Martin; two brothers, Floyd Martin and Edward Martin; three sisters,
Pauline Powers, Dorothy Billings Ray and Lucille Horton; one infant grandson,
Lynson Campbell; one granddaughter, Renee Hodnett; one son-in-law, Richard
York.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Western Animal Rescue
in care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home, P.O. Box 707, Elk City, Oklahoma 73648.
