John Edward Wells was born February 5, 1939 in Shattuck, Oklahoma. He was the third child born to Lila Grace and William Frederick Wells. He passed away April 12, 2014 at Reydon, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years two months and seven days. John spent the greater part of his childhood growing up in Reydon. John was married to Lareta Faye Fetty in Sayre, Oklahoma and to this union three sons were born; Richard Thomas Wells, Frederick Bert Wells and Roy Edward Wells. For many years John, along with his family ran the Phillips 66 Station in Reydon before going to work for Testco in 1977. After many years in the oilfield, testing wells, he went to work for Roger Mills County District 3. Upon his retirement from the County, John stayed active helping his son, Bert on his farm and working as a relief pumper for his son, Roy, which he was currently doing. He was one of the Founding Fathers of the Reydon Volunteer Fire Department and helped create the county wide Storm Spotter/Chasers Program that exists today. He was also a current member of the Roger Mills EMS Board. John loved all music and it was always a big part of his life. He spent many years participating in a local square dance group and made many friends. He loved tinkering around and was always ready to help anyone with his Mechanic/Handyman skills. For the last several years, his biggest passion has been riding his motorcycle with some of his closest friends but his grandchildren are what gave him the most pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Lula Belle and Bert Fetty, two sons, Richard Thomas Wells and Frederick Bert Wells and a brother, Roy Lee Wells. He is survived by his wife, Reta, of the home, a son, Roy Edward Wells and wife, Judy, of Cheyenne, OK; a daughter-in-law, Nena Wells of Durham, OK; five grandchildren, Jennifer Wells Hise and husband, Landon of Hobart, OK, Travis Wells of Blackwell, OK, Mac Wells of Cheyenne, OK, Heather Wells Tremblay and husband, J.L., of Okinawa, Japan, Morgan Wells of Stillwater, OK, four great grandchildren, Landry Hise of Hobart, OK, Sabyan, Madison and Abigail Tremblay of Okinawa, Japan, one brother, William Wells and wife, Karin of Reydon, OK, two sisters, Billie Pearl Wells Sibley and husband, Jay of Fritch, TX, Freda Wells Johnson and husband, James of Butlerville, IN; very special family/neighbors, Cory and Rachel Jones and their children of Reydon, OK; a very close family friend, Jean Haven of Reydon, OK and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held April 18, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Reydon Community Building officiated by Lindy Sasser and Billy Whitfield.
