Wing, Clarence

Clarence Wing was born October 28, 1935 in Delhi, Oklahoma to Valena and George Wing. He passed away November 10, 2011 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years and 12 days.
Clarence grew up in the Backham and Roger Mills County area. He attended school at Strong City and graduated from Hammon High School. He was married to Minnie Faye Cantrell in 1955 and they lived in Pampa, Texas and Arkansas before moving to Sayre to make their home. Minnie Faye passed away in January of 1986 and Clarence was later married to Helen Shafer at Amarillo, Texas on April 5, 1986 and she passed away in 2002. Clarence was a man of many talents and never shied away from hard work. He worked as a cowboy, farmer, carpenter, state highway worker as well as hauling hay and operating his own fence building business for many years. Clarence was also an ordained Pentecostal Holiness minister.
He was Papa and Father-in-law and a best friend to all. He taught his family and friends a lot about life and God. He loved his family and they loved him.
In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Zania, 2 sons, Joseph Edward (Eddie) and Bobby, a grandson, Shawn Luke Wagner, and 1 brother, Leonard Wing, Jr.
He is survived by his 3 sons, David Wing and wife, Christy, Sayre, OK, Charles Shafer, Sayre, OK, and Jack Shafer and wife, Judie, Amarillo, TX; 4 daughters, Patricia Hamilton and husband Ken, Amarillo, TX, Susan Shafer, Sayre, OK, Laura Weatherstine and husband, Rick, Sayre, OK, and Jeanne Shafer, Amarillo, TX; 1 brother, George Wing and wife, Janeda, Dallas, TX; 3 sisters, Marie Garrett, Perryton, TX, Evelyn Kisner, Austin, TX, and Vera Williams and husband Irving, Pampa, TX; 17 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, very special friends, Joyce Peak and Janene Martin, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held November 14, 2011 at 11:00 am at Sayre Assembly of God Church officiated by Jimmy Blanken and Juanice Parkhurst. Burial followed at Strong City Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service. Condolences can be made online at www.whineryfs.com
