Ray Young Jr., 90 of Elk City, Oklahoma was born on September 6, 1925 in Roll, Oklahoma. He is the son of Chester Ray and Mae (Merritt) Young as well as Lenora Young, who after his mother’s passing raised him as her own. Ray passed from this life to his final resting place on Friday, December 25, 2015 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He married his sweetheart and best friend, Wayna Jean Welty on April 28, 1951 in Clinton, Oklahoma. He enjoyed restoring antique tractors and working with metal. As a young man he was hired as a blacksmith and while learning the trade he also learned to weld. Ray was very inventive and always looked for ways to improve things.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma. Interment will be at Fairlawn Cemetery in Elk City, Oklahoma. Services have been entrusted to the care of Martin-Dugger Funeral Home in Elk City, Oklahoma.
Ray is survived by his wife, Wayna Jean Young of Elk City, Oklahoma, son, Tony Young and his wife, Barbara of San Diego, California; daughter, Brenda Terrio and her husband, Lenny of Frisco, Texas; two grandchildren, Angie Ohm and her husband, Curtis of Frisco, Texas, Heath Goodall and his wife, Danielle of Weatherford, Oklahoma; two great-grandchildren, Tucker Goodall and Abby Goodall both of Weatherford, Oklahoma; two brothers, Ricky Young of Sterling, Colorado and Terry Young and his wife, Debby of Grand Junction, Colorado; one sister-in-law, Esther Young of Burlington, Colorado.He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Mae Young; mother, Lenora Young, sister, Delpha Leddy and brother, Bob Young.
